Abstract

Latar belakang: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) adalah obstruksi saluran nafas yang tidak dapat disembuhkan yang terjadi secara progresif dan kronik, sering ditandai dengan adanya batuk secara terus menerus dan berlangsung lama, adanya suara mengi, sesak nafas, dan rasa tertekan di dada. Penyebab paling umum dari COPD adalah perokok, paparan lingkungan dan juga faktor genetik. Masalah yang ditimbulkan pada COPD antara lain adalah sesak nafas dengan pola dyspnea, adanya spasme pada otot pernafasan, dan  menurunnya tingkat ekspansi thoraks yang dikarenakan kerja paru-paru yang kurang optimal. Tujuan: Tujuan dari studi kasus ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas nebulizer, breathing ezercise dan mobilisasi thoraks pada kondisi COPD. Metode: Studi kasus ini melibatkan subjek laki-laki berusia 59 tahun yang didiagnosis COPD dengan adanya sesak nafas berat pada saat cuaca dingin atau malam hari dan batuk terus menerus yang sudah berjalan selama 2 tahun. Intervensi fisioterapi berupa nebulizer, breathing exercise, mobilisasi sangkar thoraks. Hasil: Hasil dari pemberian terapi didapatkan terjadi penurunan sesak nafas sebesar hingga 1 poin dan peningkatan ekspansi sangkar thoraks hingga 0,9 cm. Kesimpulan: Disimpulkan bahwa nebulizer, mobilisasi sangkar thoraks, dan breathing exercise berpengaruh terhadap penurunkan sesak dan meningkatkan ekspansi sangkar thoraks pada kasus COPD.
