About the Journal

Gaster is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal in health sciences published by P3M Universitas ’Aisyiyah Surakarta. First published in 2007, the journal is issued biannually in February and August.

The journal serves as a scholarly platform for the dissemination of high-quality research and academic contributions that advance evidence-based health knowledge, professional practice, and health service improvement. Gaster welcomes submissions from researchers, academics, practitioners, and policymakers whose work demonstrates scientific rigor, methodological soundness, and meaningful relevance to health practice, policy, and education.

Gaster particularly prioritizes research in primary care and community health, maternal and child health, rehabilitation and functional health, health promotion, and health systems research, especially in Southeast Asia and comparable contexts. While the journal welcomes multidisciplinary contributions in health sciences, submitted manuscripts must demonstrate a clear contribution to one or more of the journal’s core areas.

All manuscripts submitted to Gaster undergo initial editorial screening followed by peer review before publication. The journal is committed to strengthening reporting transparency, scientific quality, and editorial consistency in order to improve scholarly impact and wider international relevance.
