Abstract

Breastfeeding is a fundamental aspect of maternal and child health; however, many mothers encounter various challenges that hinder successful breastfeeding practices. Community health cadres (Posyandu cadres) play a vital role in providing direct support and education to mothers, particularly in low-resource settings. This community service program aimed to empower health cadres through structured lactation management education as a strategic intervention to improve breastfeeding support. The activity was conducted in collaboration with the Department of Maternal and Child Health at Jumapolo Public Health Center and involved interactive training sessions, practical demonstrations, and distribution of educational materials. Pre- and post-training assessments showed a significant improvement in cadres’ knowledge and confidence in providing breastfeeding guidance. The program demonstrates that empowering cadres through targeted education can enhance their capacity to assist mothers, ultimately contributing to better breastfeeding outcomes and child health indicators. Continued support and periodic training are recommended to maintain cadre engagement and knowledge retention.
